Ceiling-Mounted Air Conditioner with Humidity Control — Concealed Constant Temperature and Humidity Units for Precision Environments

Ceiling-Mounted Air Conditioner with Humidity Control — Concealed Constant Temperature and Humidity Units for Precision Environments

Why a Ceiling-Mounted Air Conditioner with Humidity Control

A normal air conditioner controls temperature and only removes moisture as a side effect; it cannot hold a humidity setpoint or raise humidity when the air is too dry. A ceiling-mounted air conditioner with humidity control — a concealed constant temperature and humidity unit — holds both temperature and humidity to a setpoint at once, from above the ceiling, freeing all floor space. Four characteristics define it. (Prefer a floor cabinet, or need higher single-unit capacity? See our floor-standing air conditioner with humidity control.)

Independent Temperature AND Humidity Control

A comfort air conditioner removes some moisture incidentally while cooling — it cannot raise humidity or hold RH to a setpoint. A ceiling-mounted air conditioner with humidity control holds a target RH independently of temperature, integrating dehumidification, humidification, cooling, and heating in one concealed unit. It dehumidifies when the room is too humid and humidifies when too dry, so both temperature and humidity stay on spec across seasons and loads — the defining behavior of a constant temperature and humidity unit.

Ceiling-Mounted, Concealed, and Space-Saving

The ceiling-mounted (concealed) format is the space saver. The unit installs above a suspended ceiling or in a service void, freeing every square meter of floor for equipment, benches, or merchandise, and stays hidden for clean rooms and customer-facing spaces. This is why ceiling-mounted precision air conditioners are the standard choice for computer rooms, network closets, labs, and retail where floor space and aesthetics both matter.
+

Ducted Overhead Air Distribution

A concealed ceiling unit distributes conditioned air through ducting and ceiling grilles, delivering uniform temperature and humidity across the room from above rather than from a single floor cabinet. Ducted overhead distribution suits long or open-plan rooms and lets one unit serve multiple grilles or zones, washing the space evenly instead of creating a hot or dry spot near the cabinet.
+

Precision Tolerance (±1°C / ±5% RH)

Precision is the point. These units hold tight tolerances — typically ±1°C on temperature and ±5% RH on humidity — across a controllable range such as 18–30°C and 40–70% RH. That stability is what electronics production, laboratories, metrology and calibration rooms, server rooms, and sensitive process environments require, and what a comfort air conditioner cannot deliver.

Applications We Serve

Computer Rooms, Server Rooms, and Network Closets

Computer rooms, server rooms, and network/IDF-MDF closets are where ceiling-mounted precision units excel — they hold tight temperature and humidity to protect equipment while taking zero floor space, leaving the room entirely for racks. Concealed overhead installation also keeps the conditioned air off the operating personnel and the cabling.
+

Electronics and Semiconductor Production

Electronics and semiconductor lines need stable temperature and 40–60% RH simultaneously — too dry risks ESD, too humid risks corrosion. A concealed ceiling unit holds both to ±1°C / ±5% RH and distributes evenly from above, without a floor cabinet interrupting the production layout.
+

Laboratories and Testing Rooms

Laboratories and testing rooms need documented, stable conditions for reproducible results. A ceiling-concealed unit holds the target band continuously with real-time display and optional logging, while keeping bench and floor space clear for instruments.
+

Metrology and Calibration Rooms

Metrology and calibration rooms hold reference conditions (commonly 20°C / 50% RH) within tight tolerance because measurement accuracy depends on it. Overhead ducted distribution gives the uniform, draft-controlled field these rooms require, at ±1°C / ±5% RH.
+

Pharmaceutical and Cleanroom Environments

Pharmaceutical and cleanroom environments pair particulate control with precise temperature and humidity, and concealed ceiling units integrate cleanly with cleanroom ceilings, filtration, and ducting. Four-function control holds the defined window year-round.
+

Telecom and Equipment Rooms

Telecom and equipment rooms generate concentrated heat and need protected, stable conditions in often compact footprints. A ceiling-mounted precision unit conditions the room from above without consuming the limited floor area the equipment needs.
+

Archive, Museum, and Precision Storage

Archives, museums, and precision storage need stable conditions (often around 20°C / 50% RH) with no swings that crack, warp, or mold sensitive materials — delivered discreetly. Concealed ceiling installation preserves the room's appearance while holding tight tolerance.
+

Retail, Office, and Light Commercial Precision Spaces

Retail, office, and light-commercial precision spaces want controlled temperature and humidity without a visible floor cabinet. The concealed ceiling unit holds conditions while staying hidden above the ceiling, preserving the customer-facing aesthetic.

How to Choose a Ceiling-Mounted Air Conditioner with Humidity Control

Like the floor-standing version, a ceiling-mounted air conditioner with humidity control is sized by four loads at once — cooling, heating, dehumidification, and humidification — for the room size, heat sources, air exchange, and target band. The ceiling format adds two checks: available ceiling void and duct routing. The matrix below maps common scenarios to a configuration; we run the full calculation against your room data. (Prefer a floor cabinet? See our floor-standing air conditioner with humidity control.)

ScenarioTypical SizeControl TargetRecommended Configuration
Server room / network closet / small labUp to 30 m²18–30°C / 40–70% RHCompact ceiling-concealed unit (220V)
Mid-size lab / electronics workshop / computer room30–80 m²±1°C / ±5% RHStandard ceiling ducted unit (220V/380V)
Production hall / large controlled space80 m²+±1°C / ±5% RHLarge-capacity ducted unit, or multiple (380V)
Condenser must sit outside the buildingAny±1°C / ±5% RHCeiling indoor + outdoor split
Limited ceiling void / low plenumAny±1°C / ±5% RHLow-profile unit; confirm clearance at inquiry

Three adjustments to the baseline:

• High internal heat load (server racks, equipment, lighting): size the cooling and dehumidification stages up accordingly.

• High air exchange or frequent door openings: add capacity, since outside air constantly pushes the room off setpoint.

• Shallow ceiling void: specify a low-profile unit and confirm the plenum depth and duct clearance at the inquiry stage.

Ceiling Installation, Ducting, and Drainage

Ceiling Installation, Ducting, and Drainage

The unit mounts above a suspended ceiling or in a service void and distributes conditioned air through ducting to ceiling grilles; lay out supply and return grilles so air washes the whole room and the temperature/humidity sensor reads representative conditions. Because a ceiling unit usually cannot gravity-drain, it uses a condensate drain pump to lift condensate to the building drain — provide a condensate route and a continuous water supply for humidification. Leave an access panel for filter and plate service.

Control, Monitoring, and BMS Integration

Each unit holds temperature and humidity to setpoint with automatic staging of cooling, heating, dehumidification, and humidification, and a real-time display (typically at a wall controller for concealed units). For labs, metrology, and pharma, specify data-logging output and BMS/Modbus integration so the unit reports to a central system.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a ceiling-mounted air conditioner with humidity control?

It is a concealed, ceiling-installed air conditioner that holds both temperature and humidity to a setpoint at the same time — a constant temperature and humidity unit mounted above the ceiling. Unlike a comfort AC, which only removes moisture incidentally, it dehumidifies when too humid and humidifies when too dry while cooling or heating to hold temperature, distributing conditioned air through ducting and ceiling grilles to a tight tolerance, typically ±1°C and ±5% RH.

Ceiling-mounted or floor-standing — which should I choose?

Choose ceiling-mounted when floor space is at a premium or the unit must stay hidden — server/computer rooms, cleanrooms, labs, retail, and offices. Choose floor-standing when you need higher single-unit capacity, simpler service access, or there is no ceiling void to conceal the unit. Both hold the same precision; the difference is form factor and installation. See our floor-standing air conditioner with humidity control for that option.

Can it both add and remove humidity?

Yes — that is the defining feature. The unit dehumidifies when humidity is above the setpoint and humidifies when below, holding the target RH in both directions across seasons, under unified control with the temperature. A standard AC and a standalone dehumidifier can only remove moisture; this unit also adds it.

What temperature and humidity tolerance can it hold?

Standard configurations hold approximately ±1°C on temperature and ±5% RH on humidity, across a controllable range of roughly 18–30°C and 40–70% RH. Tighter tolerances are available on specification — tell us the required band and stability at the inquiry stage and we configure the control and component staging to match.

How is condensate drained from a ceiling-mounted unit?

Because a ceiling unit usually cannot drain by gravity, it uses a built-in condensate drain pump that lifts condensate up and over to the building drain line. At installation, provide a condensate route within the pump's lift capacity and a continuous water-supply connection for the humidification stage. We confirm the drain and water-supply requirements for the chosen model at the inquiry stage.

What applications suit a ceiling-mounted precision unit?

Ceiling-mounted units suit any space where floor area is scarce or the unit must stay concealed: computer/server rooms and network closets, electronics and semiconductor rooms, laboratories and metrology rooms, cleanrooms and pharma spaces, telecom/equipment rooms, archives and museums, and precision retail or office spaces. All need both temperature and humidity held tightly, delivered overhead.

Do you make custom and OEM units?

Yes. SHISHUO is a manufacturer and configures each unit to the project — capacity staging, concealed ceiling or split configuration, low-profile option, control and logging, and tolerance band. We support OEM (your branding) and ODM (modified hardware) for cleanroom and lab contractors, facility builders, and distributors. Process follows our catalog 6-step flow from requirement analysis through testing and shipping.

What voltage are the units, and do you ship internationally?

Standard units run on 220V/50Hz and 380V three-phase; 110V/60Hz and 240V/50Hz are available on ODM specification. We are an export manufacturer and ship internationally — contact us with your room conditions, target temperature and humidity band, ceiling void depth, and destination market for a configured recommendation, certificates where applicable, and a quotation.
