Where the GDH-60N Series Fits Best
The GDH-60N is built for facility spaces that need 24/7 moisture control alongside brand or color requirements a single-finish industrial machine cannot meet. The five color variants cover the most common buyer requests we see: white-and-blue for healthcare and cleanroom environments (N1), pure white for office and archive interiors (N2), orange-and-black for industrial workshops and rental fleets (N3), full orange for restoration contractors and high-visibility safety zones (N4), and clean white for general commercial use (N5). The underlying machine is identical across all five.
At 60 L/day with 600 m³/h airflow, the GDH-60N suits 40–80 m² rooms — switchgear bays, mid-sized archives, light workshops, basement utility rooms, garage spaces and small warehouse zones. It is not an LGR (low-grain refrigerant) class machine for water damage restoration, but the 36.9 kg steel chassis with industrial-grade components handles continuous duty cycles that would destroy a consumer plastic-housed 60-pint unit within 18–24 months.
What Makes the GDH-60N a Heavy Duty Dehumidifier
The phrase "heavy duty dehumidifier" gets applied to a lot of products that are really upsized consumer units. On the GDH-60N, three physical differences justify the designation — you can see and weigh each one:
- 1.0 mm cold-rolled steel housing with electrostatic powder coating, versus the 0.5–0.7 mm plastic side panels common on 60-pint consumer units. The steel chassis takes accidental impacts in warehouse environments and doesn't flex or warp when stacked for transport.
- Oxygen-free copper coils throughout — both the evaporator and condenser. Lower-cost portables use aluminum tubing or copper-aluminum mixed assemblies, which corrode faster in damp ambient air. Copper handles 5–7 years of on/off cycling before capacity declines noticeably.
- 36.9 kg net weight for a 60 L/day machine. Comparable plastic-housed units run 22–28 kg. The extra 9–15 kg comes from the heavier housing, larger compressor mounts and copper coil mass. The reinforced handle and 200 mm rear wheels are sized for this load — standard caster wheels would deform under the static weight over time.
Five Color Variants and OEM Beyond the Catalog
The five standard color codes are stocked for direct shipment. Beyond them, OEM color customization is available from MOQ 10 units — any RAL or Pantone code, full cabinet or two-tone finishes, with badge and logo silk-screening included in the same order. The powder coating process uses the same primer and topcoat regardless of color, so service life and corrosion resistance stay identical across all variants. Production schedules a custom color run together with regular production, which keeps lead time at 25–35 days even for non-catalog colors.
Compressor-Cycle Refrigeration
The GDH-60N runs a sealed compressor refrigeration cycle. Warm humid air passes across the oxygen-free copper evaporator coil where moisture condenses to liquid water, then exits through the top after a brief reheat across the condenser coil. The hydrophilic-coated aluminum fins shed condensate film quickly, keeping airflow resistance low as humidity climbs.
The compressor cycle in this build extracts moisture 3–5x faster than peltier or rechargeable desiccant alternatives, at substantially lower energy consumption per liter. The 850 W rated input is what supports the 60 L/day output — a 60-pint consumer unit drawing 600–700 W typically tops out around 45–50 L/day in real conditions.
R32 or R290 — Refrigerant Choice
Both refrigerants are factory options. Selection should match the destination market regulations and your specific capacity requirements:
R290 (propane) — natural hydrocarbon, ODP of 0, GWP of 3. Required for new equipment going into the EU and UK from 2027 onward under the revised F-gas Regulation (EU 2024/573). Classified as highly flammable (A3), requiring a sealed circuit and strict charge volume limits per IEC 60335-2-40.
R32 — next-generation HFC, GWP of 675, mildly flammable (A2L). Widely permitted in the US, Asia, and most global markets. It safely accommodates larger charge volumes, making it the practical choice for high-capacity industrial units, and is easier to service in regions lacking R290-certified technicians.
Capacity and energy efficiency are highly comparable on both options within the rated working range. While R32 provides an excellent balance of performance and safety for large global operations, R32 faces future phase-downs in strict regulatory markets. For EU orders projected to deliver after 2027, specify R290 at the PO stage to ensure compliance and avoid customs issues.
Control Panel and Sensor
LCD touch panel shows real-time RH, target RH, fan speed and timer. The integrated humidity sensor reads to ±3 % RH and cycles the compressor at setpoint, so the unit will not over-dry an already-conditioned room. The 24-hour programmable timer supports unattended overnight or weekend runtime. Fault codes appear on the panel for high-pressure, low-pressure, sensor fault and tank-full conditions.
Drainage
Two drainage paths are built in:
- Internal tank — removable bucket with full-tank float switch. Unit auto-shuts when the bucket fills.
- Continuous gravity drain — corrosion-resistant 3 m drain hose connects to the rear G1/2" port. Route with continuous downward slope to a floor drain, sink or sump.
The GDH-60N does not have a built-in condensate pump. For installations where the drain endpoint sits above the unit, or restoration work that needs lift drainage, higher-capacity portable models in our commercial dehumidifier range include integrated pumps.
Auto Defrost and Operating Temperature
Minimum working temperature is 5 °C. The hot-gas bypass defrost system clears coil frost through the 5–18 °C range where unprotected portable units typically stall. For sustained operation below 5 °C — walk-in cold storage, unheated archives in winter — switch to a desiccant-type rotary dehumidifier instead. The working principle is adsorption rather than condensation, and effective extraction continues down past –20 °C.
Build and Safety
1.0 mm cold-rolled steel housing with electrostatic powder coating in the selected color variant. Internal electrical components receive a moisture-proof conformal coating before assembly. Built-in safety includes high-pressure cut-out, overcurrent protection, defrost interlock, tank-full shutoff and fault self-protection logic.
OEM and ODM Service
OEM MOQ is 10 units — branding, color (any RAL or Pantone beyond the standard five), power cord and plug type (Type B, F, G, I and others), packaging artwork. ODM with structural or control-board changes is quoted per project. Production lead time is 25–35 days after artwork sign-off, FOB Ningbo or Shanghai. Standard certifications already in place include CE and RoHS; ETL, SAA and other regional marks added with timeline impact.
